Our Curriculum Implementation
At Wednesbury Oak Academy, we use White Rose Maths from Reception to Year 6 to deliver lessons based on the mastery approach, originating in Singapore. Our use of White Rose is also supplemented by additional challenges and problems to deepen children’s understanding of mathematical concepts. Maths is taught in mixed ability classes across much of the school to enable all children to progress through the curriculum together and experience the same high expectations. Same day Maths interventions take place in every year group to ensure that gaps and misconceptions are addressed at the point of learning, allowing all children to continue with their maths journey in the following lesson.
In addition to the main Maths lesson each day, in the EYFS and Key Stage One, we follow the Mastering Number scheme, led by the Central Maths Hub.
