At Wednesbury Oak Academy, we use White Rose Maths in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 to deliver lessons based on the mastery approach, originating in Singapore. Our use of White Rose Maths is also supplemented by additional challenges and problems to deepen children’s understanding of mathematical concepts. Same day Maths interventions take place in every year group to ensure that gaps and misconceptions are addressed at the point of learning, allowing all children to continue with their Maths journey in the following lesson.

 

In addition to the main Maths lesson each day, in the EYFS and Key Stage One, the Mastering Number scheme, led by the Central Maths Hub, is followed to improve Maths fluency. Children in Years 4 and 5 also follow the Mastering Number at KS2 scheme to improve knowledge of multiplication and division.
