Geography

Our Curriculum Implementation

At Wednesbury Oak Academy, in the teaching of Geography we follow the Rising Stars Geography scheme of work. Three units of Geography are taught per year group per year. Each unit within the scheme is progressive and aims to increase children’s geographical scope, expanding upon the pupils’ own environment to the wider world. Place studies start local and increase in scale to regional, national and global, allowing for revisiting, developing and challenging ideas and concepts. Similarly, consideration of the weather and seasons progresses to more in depth study of the importance of climate and protecting environments from global warming and combating climate change. Geography is taught in mixed ability classes to enable all children to progress through the curriculum together and experience the same high expectations
