At Wednesbury Oak Academy, our overwhelming desire is that children leave us as good citizens, equipped with the skills they will need to succeed in their future lives. As part of this, we aim to provide children with a rich bank of memories that contribute towards their cultural capital and enable them to have experiences that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to undertake. We create a community based on mutual respect, where good manners and collaborative learning are of the highest importance.
Our curriculum is designed to: recognise children’s prior learning, provide first hand experiences, allow children to develop interpersonal skills, to love language, vocabulary and the written word, to encourage a love of reading, build resilience and become critical thinkers.
We develop strong relationships with our children that enable us to know them as individuals and value their talents and strengths. Our curriculum is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values. We provide enrichment opportunities to engage learning and believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in their lives where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge.
